Gayle Schumacher, LICSW

Becoming a parent is often unexpectedly difficult. If you find yourself struggling with any part of the journey, fertility challenges, pregnancy complications or loss, I am available to help you navigate these challenges. If you or your partner delivered a baby preterm and are struggling with the scary challenges and emotions of a NICU parent, I have been there too, delivering my first child at 25 weeks, and my second at 35 weeks, I can help you understand the unique emotional challenges and hurdles that come with an early birth and I can help guide you through it.

I use a variety of therapeutic tools including NICU trauma processing, CBT, mindfulness, internal family systems, strength based therapy, and emotion focused therapy. I use psycho-education to help you understand the way your brain is and has adapted to your life experiences. I will teach you self compassion and self care strategies to help ease your mind.

My journey to motherhood was fraught with many of the challenges you may be facing. I have been helping NICU parents navigate their journey for past 11 years, first as a NICU Family Support and now as a LICSW. I have been educated in the latest research and clinical findings to ensure your treatment is trauma informed and individualized to your unique story.
